o Rod Freeman's English students use the Internet for researching, reporting, and, in essence, publishing. His four sections of English 102 will post the images and results of their Service Learning projects on the EMCCC World Wide Web (WWW) server. Students find WWW browsers such as Mosaic and Netscape easy to use, and Freeman has watched them develop a "positive information-based addiction." His students are eager to explore, using electronic bookmarks to save the locations of interesting sites, and Freeman guides them to relevant sources via his Internet Tryptik. Once adept in finding information for their English assignments, the students are then able to discover resources for their other classes. Freeman's creative writing group is exploring MUDs for developing writing environments, and several students are submitting their work to electronic publications.

o Pearl Williams is collaborating with MCLI on a multimedia application that provides students an environment in which they can work at their own pace on reading and basic skills. Material for the example and practice exercises will be taken from the Internet public domain text of Project Gutenburg.
