1:45-2:45 p.m. – Plenary #1: Internationalizing the Curriculum: Supportive Policies and Practices

Institutional culture, policies, practices, and structures can help or hinder the internationalization of the curriculum. This panel will lay the foundation for the meeting by featuring innovative approaches to address issues that emerge in internationalizing interdisciplinary, disciplinary, and general education courses. 

Panelists include:

4:00-5:00 p.m. – Plenary #2: Internationalizing the Curriculum: Illustrative Examples from the Field

This panel will address how individuals and teams have developed innovative curricular examples that respect the integrity of various fields of study while infusing internationalization into courses. Panelists will highlight concrete examples of how they have integrated international content or pedagogy into courses and programs.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Carolyn Kadel Director of International Education, Johnson County Community College
  • Steven Youngblood Communications faculty and Chair of a University-wide Internationalization Task Force, Park University.

9:00-10:00 a.m. – Plenary #3: Infusing World Languages into the Curriculum

This panel will highlight innovative ways to infuse language learning into the curriculum. Panelists will discuss specific policies and practices they have implemented on their campuses that help further curricular internationalization efforts and language learning. The Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum (CLAC) movement will be explored.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Judy Krutky – Professor, Political Science and International Studies and Director for Intercultural Education, Baldwin-Wallace College
  • Dr. Carlos Valencia – Director of Languages Across the Curriculum and Director of Technology, Latin American and Iberian Studies, University of Richmond
  • Cheryl Berman Director of World Languages, Howard Community College

11:15-12:15 p.m. – Plenary #4: Connecting Internationalization Efforts in the Curriculum and Co-curriculum

All too often, internationalization efforts in the curriculum and co-curriculum are viewed as separate, unrelated initiatives. This panel will address how teams are working together to integrate study abroad into the curriculum, connect student affairs activities to course work, and leverage service learning. 

Panelists include:
