Peeking at the Source

Follow these instructions to "peek" at the HTML source of any web page. The instructions may vary depending on which World Wide Web browser you are using.

If there is a menu option View Source...
NCSA Mosaic v 2.x, MacWeb, NetScape

NOTE: You may have to instruct your browser which application to use to view the HTML source. Look for an option under Preferences and select any text editor application.

  1. Go to the page that you want to "peek at"
  2. Select View Source or Document Source
  3. Save the file on your hard drive

If there is a menu option Save as HTML
NCSA Mosaic v1.0.3, NetScape
  1. Go to the page that you want to "peek at"
  2. Select Save As... from the File menu
  3. Select the option to save as HTML/Source
  4. Save the file on your hard drive
