Maricopa Community Colleges Grants and Corporate Development
Faculty Innovation Meets Resource Development!
The goals of this dialogue day are to:
- provide a general overview of the grant writing process
- identify common barriers to securing funding for implementing faculty innovation, and
- demystifying the grant writing process while encouraging faculty involvement in the process.
In addition to covering the basics, there will be numerous dialogues that include:
- discipline specific funding sources,
- inter-disciplinary collaborations,
- grant budgeting and management,
- searching electronically for fudning sources, and
- internal funding opportunities (i.e., MCLI Learning Grants)
- What would you do if you had the resources?
- How would you enhance your teaching and learning strategies?

About the speakers...
Joseph Swaba has more than fifteen years experience in higher education including alumni relations, student activities, program development, fundraising, teaching, grant writing, and student training. He has extensive experience coordinating special events and programs at local and national levels. He is a highly effective speaker and writer and is an experience grant writer and fundraiser. He is the Associate Director of the Grants and Corporate Development Office for the Maricopa Community Colleges.
Adrienne Mitchell develops, writes, and edits grant proposals for local, state, federal, and private funding agencies. She creates proposal components, including graphics, charts, budgets, and appendices. She also facilitates project planning meetings, conducts research related to proposal needs assessment, and analyzes requests for proposals, guidelines, data, and financial information. She is a Grants and Corporate Development Specialist for the Maricopa Community Colleges.
