About the speaker...
Hazel Davis is Faculty Chair for Library Science at Rio Salado College. She started in the District as an adjunct faculty librarian at Glendale Community College in 1992, and was hired in her current position at Rio in 1997. She is immediate past president of the Rio Salado Faculty Senate, and currently serves as co-Faculty Development Coordinator for Rio. She has served as the chair of the District Libraries Council and is active on numerous inter-college library committees.

Hazel has had responsibility for procuring copyright permissions for Rio's distance learning courses since 1997, during which time she has established a centralized, formalized process for copyright compliance at Rio. She has attended numerous conferences and workshops on copyright, and served on a District Committee convened at the request of Dr. Anna Solley in 2004, authoring the "Best Practices for Maricopa Faculty" on copyright that emerged from that process.

In addition to copyright, Hazel's responsibilities include serving as Rio's Library Director, developing and teaching online LBS classes, numerous faculty initiatives in the online learning environment, faculty liaison to the Rio Salado Instructional Helpdesk personnel, and serving on the college Website committee, where she is involved with the editing and organization of information architecture.
