About the speakers...
Catherine Crary: Catherine has more than seven years experience in the grants arena. She develops, revises, and edits grant proposals for local, state, federal and private funding agencies. She also facilitates project planning meetings, conducts research related to proposal needs assessment, develops grant budgets and analyzes request for proposals, guidelines, data, and financial information. She is a Grants Development Specialist in the Grants and Corporate Development Office at the Maricopa Community Colleges.
Marsha Deuel: Marsha is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked at Maricopa for over 20 years. The first 11 years as a Grants Accountant in Business Services and almost 10 years in the Grants and Corporate Development area with the last three years focusing on the accounting for Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. She is the Grants and Gift Management Specialist for Maricopa Community Colleges.
Mary Graci: Mary has more than twenty years experience in higher education including, institutional advancement/program development, occupational education, virtual reality technology, grant writing, and teaching. She has extensive experience working with agencies at international, national and local levels. She is an experienced public speaker and public fundraiser. She is the Director Grants Development and Management at Phoenix College.
Carol Hale: Carol is the Director of Grants and Corporate Development for MCCCD. She has overseen grants development and management activities for 16 years and has planned and developed many funded grant proposals. In FY2006, the funding success rate for new and continuing grants was approximately 80%. She also has experience in institutional planning, teaching, and occupational education. She has served as a national board member of the Council for Resource Development, most recently as the Vice President for Regional Services.
Cathleen Hernandez: Cathy has more than 10 years experience in higher education including faculty development, program coordination, institutional research/effectiveness, and grant writing. She develops statistical and demographic reports to support college strategic planning and grants development. She has extensive experience working with occupational programs and business and industry partnerships. She is Coordinator Institutional Research and Grants Development at GateWay Community College.
Linnea Sarkis: Linnea has been with the District Resource Development Office for more than 15 years, where she directs and coordinates the design, development and administration of full-service information systems. She develops financial, statistical and demographic reports to support fund raising, marketing, alumni and special events goals. She has web development and prospect research experience and internship experience developing college fundraising and stewardship programs. She is also working on her masters' degree in Educational Leadership.
Joseph Swaba: Joseph has more than fifteen years experience in higher education including alumni relations, student activities, program development, fundraising, teaching, grant writing, and student training. He has extensive experience coordinating special events and programs at local and national levels. He is a highly effective speaker and writer and is an experienced grant writer and fundraiser. He is the Associate Director of the Grants and Corporate Development Office for the Maricopa Community Colleges.
