There are many outstanding faculty in Maricopa who are experts in the various aspects of sustainability. These innovative faculty from various disciplines such as geography, chemistry and philosophy will be sharing lesson plans and ideas for innovative pedagogy in sustainability. The discussion of the presentation will help the participants in getting ideas for developing lesson plans that they can use in their respective disciplines.
After the participants are exposed to the various presentations that demonstrate the breadth and depth of topics in sustainability, they will have a chance to brainstorm and think of how they can incorporate sustainability in their respective classes. They will then be given an opportunity to share their ideas with the group in small group and large group discussions.
These energetic and lively discussions will deepen their understandings and refine teaching approaches so that students may better explore the sustainability of their communities and thus better achieve global learning outcomes.
