WebDev 2001 Technology Dialogue Day

Web Accessibility and the Disabled

Poster Session

Glendale Community College

JAWS for Windows is only one of many technologies for persons with disabilities aimed at removing the barriers on teh Information Highway. The obvious benefit of this program is that it allows the unsighted user to reap the rewards offered in an educational environment.

This presentation will allow teachers creating websites, for web-based courses in particular, to understand the importance of creating something that does not exclude anyone from accessing their course materials. Understanding how screen reading software interprets text on a screen can assist the novice web builder in incorporating accessible web design into their web materials.

This project aligns with the theme by showing educators how important it is to make all of their materials accessible to everyone and places to go on the Web to get more information about accessibility issues.

This is just a bunch of white text on a white background presented here as a kludge to push the HTML table wide enough for a pleasing display.
