Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
with Director
Parenting! Birthing! Ancestors!
OOPS(!) As of May 9, 1997, we've done a bit of housecleaning
and moved the OOPs tips inside our Tips n' Scripts area...
Just go there and scroll among the sections for "OOPs"
Okay, you are scaling up the near-vertical learning curve with Director, having surmounted MIAWs, single frame animations, FileIO, when some lingo-head at the top is yodeling about the joys of birthing and parenting?Huh?
In the realm of structured programmers, they are talking about Object Oriented Programming. In Director, they are giving birth from parents and descending from ancestors. All of which has evolved from factories in Director 3.x
So you dive into the Using Lingo manual, and follow carefully through step by step examples of creating "child" objects and prent scripts, with some bouncing balls. Finally, they tease you with a sample of an animated erector set of a movie called MECH, and how is it explained in the 3 paragraphs of Using Lingo ? "For an explanation of what the handlers in MECH do, study the comments that are part of the scripts."
Gee thanks for all the details....
