I suspect that the reason you see so many installers based on Developer VISE is related to their licensing policy. For $295, you can license Developer VISE Lite for use in ALL of your products, regardless of how many copies are distributed. IMHO, Stuffit Installer (Aladdin) is a bit more elegant; however, they impose a per title charge based on the number of copies you plan to distribute. This is more of a hassle. Both products are easy to use and produce very good installers.

You can obtain fully functional demos of both products from the usual sources, e.g.,

  ftp://mirror.aol.com/pub/info-mac/
or check their Web pages:

DragInstall has been shipping since 1991 and is currently being used by many multimedia companies. Our single fee price of $300.00 allows distribution of an unlimited number of installers and covers all products. (And this is not for a "light" version.) DragInstall can install files from inside or outside a compressed archive, which makes in great for CD-ROM installations.
