Director Extra Applications
These are many freeware or shareware applications that you may find useful in doing your "Directing". In the young web days of 1994 we maintained a collection here, but these days it makes more sense to use the sites below which will not only give you more to choose from, it will be more up-to-date.

Another excellent resource is UpdateStage's Mile-High Table of Products for Director. Below are are a few specialized more tools made for working with Director or for creating media that you may use inside of Director:

AutoType/AutoClick allows you to control even non-scriptable mac applications from within Applescript. Using AutoType you can send simulated key strokes to the front application. This means you can control dialog boxes, hit menu short-cuts, or do anything else that can be done from the keyboard. AutoClick allows you to send simulated mouse clicks to any spot on the screen.

Aniware AniRex We at Aniware got irritated at the inability of Director to switch resolution/color depth on the PC so we made a small utility to do the job. After trying it out we decided to sell it to other hapless lingo slaves out there. It is not an Xtra, does not require any changes to your project, does not require DirectX and will restore the original settings even if the Projector crashes. You simply launch our utility and it in turn will launch your projector after changing the settings and after the projector has finished running it will restore the settings again.

FastSplash is a splash screen application. What FastSplash does is display a bitmap splash screen and launches your application. Once your application is up and running, FastSplash will automatically quit.

ScriptBuilder
is a tool to create Xtras for Director. With Script Builder, you will never worry again about your C; C++ code interface with the MOA. The MOA interface is automaticaly generated. The only thing you have to do is to include the source files you want to compile. Just imagine, you have a reliable C code (of course, it is yours) that gives access to a database.
