New!

This follow up event to the October 24 & 25 Effective Teaching in a Hybrid Environment is being coordinated by the District Ocotillo group. As a new MCLI type of event, the next step to a "dialogue" is an "epilogue"! This is our first Epilogue Day, where we will engage in more discussion and activities related to the issues and practices of hybrid course structures, specifically to identify the factors in creating and implementing them successfully.

Agenda

  • Introduction & Orientation (1:30-1:40 pm)
  • Roundtable Discussions (1:45 - 2:55 pm)
We will have 3 rounds of twenty minutes each where you can dialogue with one of our experienced hybrid practitioners.
  • Discipline Dialogues (3:00-4:00 pm)
Meet in groups by discipline to develop best practice and suggestion lists for successful hybrid courses.

Valid Issues and Concerns

The Ocotillo group is aware of many issues and concerns regarding development of hybrid structures. These include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Compensation / Reassign Time
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Repetitious Course Development
  • Adjunct Faculty Integration

At this point, we acknowledge the importance and validity of these issues and concerns, however, it is not the objective of this session to address them. This day is dedicated to stimulating faculty thought and inspiration for developing hybrid structures. Our objective is for participants to gain "a vision" and plan of how to restructure their class.

Faculty Professional Growth

Unfortunately, there was not sufficient time to develop a proposal for FPG for this event. We will pursue it for future Epilogue Days.
