WebDev (What's Next)
We have gotten plenty of positive and consutrctive feedback from last month's
WebDev event at Rio Salado. The notes from our trusty "webScribes" are now
available, as well as the links to sites mentioned in the presentations, from:
http://www.maricopa.edu/webdev/fall96/
Kudos to Mike Franov of District ITS for setting up the WebDev pages and the
server scripts for our registration forms. Please send any URL corrections or
addtions to Mike.
What's next? We heard interest in more of these events. It takes quite a bit of
effort, so we are asking for those interested in helping plan the next WebDev
event to keep any eye on their January calendars so we can beginning planning
for the WebDev of fall 1997. Also, let us know of any ideas you have for what
kind of things you would like to say.
Okay, that's a long way off, right? We are alos going to try some less formal,
WebDev Discussion groups, held once a month at a a different college. The themes
and topics can vary from presentations to workshop to discussions. We'll be
asking soon for some folks to volunteer to arrange a spot and agenda.
And finally, if you are interested in another A1 list that is a bit more
specialized in web technology and support, contact Eric Johnson and ask to be
put on the @webdev list.
Sometime in the future, we will migrate this Web's Eye View mailing list to an
Internet mail distribution (you will have a chice then to receive it via A1 or
e-mail).
HTML Corner
It is easy to make a hypertext link that brings up a browser window so that
readers can send e-mail to a designated address:
Write to Me!
But you can also set it up to mail to more than one person, just by listing the
e-mail address separated by commas:
Write to Us!
And there is more! You can also designate the default text that goes into the
Subject line, i.e so that you could code it so you know that a reader is sending
you something related to Chapter 32:
Send me your
comments on Chapter 32
Try it!
Some Sites to See
We've toyed with a script to make our Bag of URLs collection searchable:

Evaluation of Psychomotor Outcomes in On-Line Courses
This Web page was designed by David Lloyd as an assignment for the course EDT
1514 Internet Resources and Education offered during the summer of 1996 at the
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
Numerous disciplines require that students are able to demonstrate that they
have mastered a set of hands-on skills. Can Web-based courses adequately verify
that these skill-based outcomes have been met? A search of the Web revealed very
little information on this issue. As an alternative, a survey was constructed
and e-mailed to list of individuals involved in distance education courses.

The Angle
presents you with up-to-date news and information about the web, with some
chosices you can make so that you receive it in a format that fits your style:
"Our staff tirelessly combs the web looking for cool stuff, and they find way
too much of it for one human to possibly combine. So they sift through each
week's finds, then I choose the best of the best based on my own weird world
view and life experience. If you're looking for humorous twists on the news,
information nobody wanted you to see, bizarre and unsettling things and general
craziness, then be my guest and jump aboard my angle. Or you can customize THE
ANGLE to fit your own preferences"
