JavaScript Slide Show, Part Deux
================================
We created an easy-to-use web slide show template that operates
via JavaScript called the "jClicker". To use it, you merell
assemble your images into a folder, download the template, and
edit specified areas in one HTML document:
http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/proj/jclicker/
We know of several places this is being used around the
maricopa domain space... we recently made an updated version that
allows you to combine multiple slide shows into one interface,
we call it the "jClicker's jClicker"
http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/proj/jclicker/jclicker2.html
Please let us know if you create any slide shows from
our template so we can add them as linked examples.
Two Windows Open for Just One Click!
====================================
This came from a recent request for a way to have one hypertext link
open two web browser windows. Here is a JavaScript example that is also
available at

| CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY CUTS BACK California Virtual
| University will cease operations as an independent
| distance-education institution, following reluctance on the part
| of the venture's partners -- the state's three public-college
| systems and the association of independent colleges -- to put up
| $1 million a year for the next three years to cover operating
| costs. CVU will retain its searchable Web site
| , which lists available courses at
| more than 100 participating colleges and universities. Funding
| already received by CVU, including $250,000 from the Alfred P.
| Sloan foundation and $375,000 from corporate sponsorships, has
| already been spent, in part on developing the Web site. CEO
| Stanley Chodorow said in a mid-March e-mail message that "We just
| did not have enough fuel to get up to takeoff speed." (Chronicle

| ONLINE SURFERS AVERAGE SIX HOURS A WEEK ON THE NET A recent poll
| conducted by Louis Harris and Associates indicates that the
| average online computer user in the U.S. spends six hours a week
| surfing the Web. That time does not include sending and
| receiving e-mail, which is the most popular online activity.
| Sixty-three percent of online users say they use e-mail "often,"
| a 10% increase since September 1998. The next most popular
| activity (39%) was conducting research for work or school.
| Thirty-one percent of users shop online, with books the most
| frequently purchased item (software ranked in second place).
