T
he Adjunct Faculty Professional Growth Program (AFPG) provides the opportunity for adjunct faculty members who teach at any of the Maricopa colleges to attend professional growth activities that enhance their knowledge and teaching skills for the courses they teach for Maricopa. Eligible activities include local and national seminars, conferences, workshops, and professional meetings.
In 2003-04, 184 adjunct faculty members were funded by the AFPG program to participate in 214 professional growth activities. One hundred-one (101) adjunct faculty received the maximum award of $500 by attending one or more eligible events. The administrative role of MCLI is to ensure that program guidelines and District policies and regulations are followed prior to awarding program funding. MCLI works as a team with a dedicated team of AFPG campus representatives, who guide the adjunct faculty members through the application process from completing the application forms through submission for reimbursement.
This program has been very successful, with participation by adjunct faculty from across the ten Maricopa Community Colleges. For more information, contact Debbie Fox, MCLI, (480) 731-8252.
