FPG Appeals ProcessIf your professional growth request request is denied, you may appeal the decision. Consult the FPG Guidelines again to be sure the application conformed to all procedural and documentation requirements. If you believe that your application was in compliance with the Guidelines, then you may prepare a written appeal. Complete a new FPG application (see myFPG for forms) and be sure to mark the appeal box. Attach additional written statements and documentation supporting the need for the appeal. Contact the appropriate Faculty Professional Growth Representative for assistance in preparing the appeal presentation. If a request is denied by the FPG Committee a second time, the faculty member may appeal to the FPG Review Committee. The FPG Review Committee shall consist of the District Faculty Association Executive Committee, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Development and the Chair of the FPG Committee or designee. The Chair of the FPG Committee and the executive council member from the grievantŐs campus are included as non-voting members. The decision of this committee is not grievable under the RFP. The FPG Committee adjourns for the summer following its May meeting and is thus unable to process faculty appeals during the summer in the usual manner. Faculty wishing to appeal the Committee's denial of Summer Project funding must prepare a written appeal and send it to the FPG Committee Chair and to the Faculty Association President. If the Faculty Association President finds merit in the appeal, the Faculty Professional Growth Review Committee will be convened to review the case. This committee will not change the FPG Committee's relative ranking of a proposal compared to the other applications but may act on other questions. Denial of sabbatical leave, professional unpaid leave, or professional growth travel by the FPG Committee is not grievable under the RFP. See also the Frequently Asked Questions about Appeals. |
