Application Process: Salary Advancement for Non-Academic Work

Workshops, dialogue days, seminars, conferences sponsored by Maricopa Colleges, either through the MCLI (Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction) or individual colleges are frequently available for non-academic advancement. To qualify for advancement hours sponsors of these events must submit their activity to the Faculty Professional Growth Advancement subcommittee for approval prior to advertising FPG opportunity to the faculty. See the internal event design template. MCLI instructional designers are available for consultation in completing this application.

If you enroll in one of these activities the allowable number of clock hours and the FPG eligibility should be posted as part of the information. See also the Frequently Asked Questions about Internal Events.

Did you attend an event sponsored by the district?

The event must have been pre-approvedlook up in glossary for Faculty Professional Growth by the advancement subcommittee.

How do you know if an event was pre-approved?

The event should be labeled as "pre-approved for professional growth". The sponsors of the activity will be able to tell you before the event occurs.

The same process that faculty follows to submit any other non-academic activity is followed for internally sponsored events:

  1. Complete the application for non-academic advancement (see myFPG for forms). Describe how this activity enhances your professional growth. Your description assists your peer review committee in understanding how this makes you a better professional in your field and/or more effective teacher in your work. Complete the application, (one per activity), print out the completed application, and sign.

  2. Submit the application to the District FPG staff support.

  3. Your verification of attendance must be provided by the event sponsor directly to the District FPG staff support.
