Salary Advancement for Non-Academic Work
Faculty may submit applications for a wide variety of non-academic experiences. This includes attendance at conferences, workshops, and seminars outside of Maricopa as well as credit for participation at internal locally-hosted district events. Salary advancement is also available for work-related experience and certain travel experiences. A maximum of fifty (50) credit hours of Non-Academic work may be earned (per RFP A.3.3).

Clock Hour Policy
Non-academic advancement is based upon a clock hour equivalency to academic hours. The following scale is used:
- Clinics, conferences, workshops & seminars*
See Clock Hours Options A and B in the conferences/workshops section.
18 clock hours = 1 credit hour
- Work experience
35 clock hours = 1 credit hour
- Travel experience
10 consecutive travel study days = 1 credit hour
- Other professional activity
35 clock hours = 1 credit hour
*It is difficult to clearly distinguish between each of these terms. Organizations will define them uniquely based upon their discipline and history. Some of these very programs will also be offered for credit. Use the descriptions provided by the sponsoring organization and provide ample information to help the Faculty Professional Growth committee review your application.
