Salary Advancement for Non-Academic Work

Faculty may submit applications for a wide variety of non-academic experiences. This includes attendance at conferences, workshops, and seminars outside of Maricopa as well as credit for participation at internal locally-hosted district events. Salary advancement is also available for work-related experience and certain travel experiences. A maximum of fifty (50) credit hours of Non-Academic work may be earned (per RFP A.3.3).

Clock Hour Policy

Non-academic advancement is based upon a clock hour equivalency to academic hours. The following scale is used:

  • Clinics, conferences, workshops & seminars*
    See Clock Hours Options A and B in the conferences/workshops section.
    18 clock hours = 1 credit hour
  • Work experience
    35 clock hours = 1 credit hour
  • Travel experience
    10 consecutive travel study days = 1 credit hour
  • Other professional activity
    35 clock hours = 1 credit hour
