Program of Study
A program of study is recommended or required for certain types of academic coursework (see questions to help determine which case applies to you). Use these steps to complete your program of study:
- Select Your Objective
- For Graduate level courses:
- Obtain an official letter from the institution that states that you have been accepted into the program.
- Obtain an official program of study submitted on the institution's form or letterhead. It must include:
- The title of the program
- A complete list of courses with course numbers, and credit hours that you plan to complete
- The signature of the committee chairperson or program advisor.
- For Undergraduate level courses:
- Obtain the following:
- A letter documenting support from your Dean of Instruction.
- A letter of acceptance from an accredited degree-granting institution.
- Include the institution's official curriculum check sheet for the major field of study. The check sheet must be signed by a faculty advisor or program advisor.
- Include a one-page summary of the official program of study listing:
- Applicant's name, the name of the institution, and the degree program title
- Course numbers, titles and credit hours for all courses in the program for which you request approval.
- Complete the application for academic advancement (see myFPG).
Describe how this enhances your professional growth.
- Contact your FPG advancement representative to review your application. If all is complete and clear, your representative can sign
- After your representative has reviewed and signed, the original application and required documents, prepare 12 sets of the information for full committee review. Keep a copy for yourself and send 11 sets to the District Faculty Professional Growth secretary. This can be sent directly by yourself or by your representative.

If you have course changes in your Program of Study, submit an academic application marked "Change in Program of Study." Be sure to identify the course the new course is replacing. In the rationale explain the reason for the change. Approved changes will be forwarded to the District Wage and Salary Supervisor.
|
- The district Faculty Professional Growth secretary verifies the institutional accreditation and places the application on the agenda for the FPG committee review.
- You will be notified of the committee's action by e-mail by the Faculty Professional Growth secretary. When approved, notification is sent to the Supervisor of Wage and Salary. If not approved as presented, you will be notified so you may revise and resubmit.
- As you complete the individual courses on your approved program of study, submit an official transcript directly to Wage and Salary prior to September 15 of each year in order to receive your incremental horizontal advancement.
- As soon as you complete the course work that awards you an advanced degree, submit evidence of same to Human Resources so your salary can be adjusted from that point forward.
