Faculty Responsibility for Summer Projects
What are my responsibilities during the submission process?
- Discuss your ideas with your FPG representative.
- Review examples of summer project applications as well as previously funded summer projects.
- To take advantage of spell checking and word count tools, we suggest that you download and compose your responses to the project questions in the Summer Project Draft template (MS Word format).
- Use the FPG Summer Project Evaluation Form to help guide you as you write your proposal.
- Visit the FPG Electronic Forms (ELF) to draft and submit your application. Funding for Summer Projects is limited to $3,500, including statutory benefits, depending on available funds. The online form will automatically calculate the totals for you.
- Project timelines may not exceed 40 hours per week (Saturday through the next Friday).
- Submit your proposal to your FPG representative for review and acceptance via the online system.
- Your representative may electronically return it to you for revisions.
- Once your representative accepts your proposal, you have completed your proposal to apply for summer project funds. If you have any documentation which could not be included in electronic format, then print your proposal and include supporting documentation and/or conference brochure if attending a conference (showing location, date(s), sponsor, and cost). Submit the printed proposal with attached documentation to your FPG representative before the deadline. If all of your documentation was included in the electronic proposal, you do not print out the application for the FPG representative.
Submit the printout of your Summer Project proposal to your college representative on or before noon on the Thursday before Spring Break. No exception will be made to this deadline. What is my responsibility once I learn that my Summer Project has been approved?
- Notify your FPG representative promptly if you cannot accept the project. If you cannot reach your representative, please contact Sylvia Enriquez at district. It is your responsibility to contact the FPG representative and have this taken care of as soon as possible.
- Sign the contract and return it to the appropriate person at your college.
- Complete any necessary travel forms (check with the Vice-President of Academic Affairs or Fiscal Office for information on your college travel policy).
- Complete your Summer Project.
- Notify your FPG representative and FPG staff support if you cannot accept the project.
- Log in to the FPG Electronic Forms Center site to complete a Summer Project Report and submit it to your FPG representative. If you submit at least two weeks before the September 30th deadline, your representative will have an opportunity to review your report and make suggestions before the deadline.
Failure to submit a Final Report will result in you not being considered for Summer Projects for the next five years.
What if I cannot or do not complete the project?
If you have received payment of wages or reimbursement of fees but did not complete your project, you must reimburse the FPG funding. Contact your FPG representative for information on the contract revision policy and procedure. If you cannot reach your representative, please contact Sylvia Enriquez at district. It is your responsibility to contact the FPG representative and have this taken care of as soon as possible.
