Selection Process for Summer Projects
How are the Summer Projects awarded?
Your summer project proposal is evaluated using a competitive process. Submission of a proposal does not necessarily mean funding. The evaluation tool used by the committee is available below for review. Check with your FPG representative or review it online. It is helpful to use the evaluation tool as you write your project.

Each FPG representative reads and evaluates your proposal. College representatives will not evaluate proposals from their own college. However, they can provide information and answer questions about your proposal. Make sure your FPG representative understands your proposal and can answer questions that might arise. All scores are tallied and entered into a spreadsheet. The proposals are ranked numerically 100% through 0%. The higher the number, the more likely the proposal will be funded. Projects scoring less than 80% will not be funded.
Can a portion of my Summer Project be funded?
Each year, the committee determines the maximum amount allowable for a Summer Project. For a group project, each individual may receive up to this amount. If your Summer Project request is for more than this amount, we will fund your project up to the maximum allowable. Contact your college representative to determine the current maximum amount.
Can my Summer Project proposal be denied?
Yes, any proposal not meeting the committee's 80% criteria will be denied funding. This is why it is very important that you review your proposals with your FPG representative and allow time for review and revision before it is submitted. In the case of limited funds, some applications that meet the 80% criteria may not be funded.
When will I know my Summer Project has been approved?
Notification of approval or denial will be sent to applicants by the Friday following the last scheduled FPG meeting (usually by the end of April, see calendar).
