This category exists simply because opportunity for professional growth can occur in many forms. This offers faculty a way to ask for consideration of their unique experience. As such it is difficult to say a particular format of presentation is effective for each situation. As the applicant you need to present your activity in the best possible form. Take care with your proposal and help your colleagues see the growth you propose or have experienced. The activity should show development that provides growth that will improve your teaching or educational leadership skills.

Support that will help your application be successful:

  • Essay description of skills and knowledge to be gained how will this apply to your teaching responsibilities?

  • Time justification: In the case of pre-approval a proposed time line that you will take if after the activity, a log of your hours and activity

  • Since your credit is counted in clock hours, independent verification or documentation of the hours is required after the activity is complete.

    For example:
    1. signed statement from someone who can verify your hours or
    2. tangible product or products that resulted from the activity
    3. dated receipts for appropriate purchases related to the activity
    4. brochure or other official documents related to the activity

    • Acceptance letters
    • Commendation letters

The appropriate documentation will depend on the nature of the activity.

The maximum hours awarded per application is 210 clock hours or 6 credit hours. Application must occur within one calendar year of completion of activity.
