faculty professional growth

Vision, Mission, and Values of the Professional Growth Committee

Vision

The Faculty Professional Growth program seeks to enhance professionalism, to encourage excellence in the District's faculty, and to direct an incentive program for faculty, using the utmost care of public money. This program is designed to recognize and reward the efforts of faculty members as they engage in professional growth activities related to their profession and their colleges.

Mission

The Faculty Professional Growth committee members serve to assist their colleagues in the utilization of the Faculty Professional Growth (FPG) programs, to represent faculty on their respective campuses, and to review professional growth applications from faculty.

The professional growth guidelines are written to provide faculty with a concise path for successful application to the various FPG programs in order to achieve their professional growth.

Values

We will work to assist faculty to continue their professional growth throughout their career. Each committee member is committed to be knowledgeable about the FPG program, and to be available and helpful to the faculty of their college.

We rely on the human goodness of faculty. We believe faculty pursue the mastery of their subject with dedication and responsibility. We believe faculty strive to develop a strong and hospitable educational environment for their students while upholding academic standards.

We assume good intent. We believe faculty motives are usually positive. When information seems unclear or incomplete, we will ask what was intended rather than develop an assumption of what might be intended.
