Application Process: Salary Advancement for Non-Academic Work
How do I apply for advancement for work experience?
- Complete the application for non-academic advancement (see myFPG for forms).
- If you are applying for pre-approval, provide the following:
- Description of any previous work experiences used for salary advancement.
- An educational plan specifying the skills and knowledge to be gained and how they apply to the faculty member's responsibilities.
- A timeline for the work.
- Documentation that the work will be completed outside of hours of accountability to MCCCD.
- Documentation that the work will be supervised by a person having more expertise than the faculty member doing the work.
- A description of how this enhances your Professional Growth relating the work to teaching or other assigned campus responsibilities.
If you are applying after the work experience is complete, then compile a final report that includes:
- A signed letter of verification of the work experience, hours and dates worked from the work supervisor on official organizational letterhead.
- A written report from the applicant summarizing the work experience activities, the knowledge and skills gained, and how those skills will enhance your teaching responsibilities.
- If your work experience occurs during your faculty contract year, you must document your hours of accountability and your work experience schedule.
- If approved, the final report and approved application are sent to Wage and Salary for advancement processing.
- Have the application signed by your college FPG advancement representative.
- In addition to the original make ten collated copies of application and supporting documentation. Submit to your representative or send to Faculty Professional Growth District Office. Keep a copy for your records.
