welcome
Welcome to the Maricopa Community Colleges' 2002 Faculty Convocation. This year we have borrowed the Honors Forum theme "Customs, Traditions, and Celebrations: The Human Drive for Community." With today's program, we have tried to celebrate the custom and tradition of excellence in Maricopa by highlighting some of the wonderfully rich and diverse talents of our faculty.
All good people agree,
And all good people say,
All nice people like Us are We
And everyone else is They:
But if you cross over the sea,
Instead of over the way,
You may end by [think of it!]
looking for We
As only a sort of They!

In addition, we have keynoters Drs. Janet and Milton Bennett, who have returned to Maricopa to remind us about the need to continue to develop multicultural thinking and culturally sensitive attitudes and behaviors as our students and colleagues become more diverse.
Following the Bennetts' keynote address, a buffet lunch will be served outside on the lawn, with a special performance by Kawambe Omowale African Drum and Dance Theatre. Various afternoon breakout sessions will conclude the day's program.
The Maricopa Faculty Developers and the MCLI staff welcome you back and wish you a joyous new semester.
Enjoy the day!
