description

The Maricopa Institute for Learning (MIL) is a fellowship program for full-time faculty in any discipline who are interested in examining significant issues in their teaching fields and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning by developing projects that:

will investigate how and under what conditions student learning can be fostered;
can be tested with students;
can be documented and made public;
are relevant to and extend the scholarship of teaching and learning in a discipline; and
have implications beyond an individual classroom.

This is a one-year commitment with release time and special professional development activities.

eligibility

Residential faculty who have been nominated by their college President, Dean of Instruction, or Faculty/Staff Development Coordinator.

allocations per proposal

Fellows receive a maximum of six load hours of release time each semester, a stipend for project-related materials, and funds for travel to national conferences.

funding cycle(s)

Each academic year, Fellows are selected from the pool of applicants by a committee of their peers through a blind scoring process.

application deadline(s)

Nominations for 2002-2003 Fellowships are due December 3, 2001.
Proposals from nominees are due February 8, 2002.
Proposals will be reviewed in mid-February, 2002.
Applicants will be notified by March 8, 2002.
