We represent learning communities at the Maricopa Community Colleges as this garden of prickly pear cacti. They have special needs to survive the desert
climate. But when nurtured, they flourish and bear beautiful fruit and flowers.
"Integrated Learning
Communities...
are intentional curriculum restructuring efforts that thematically link or
cluster during a given term and enroll a cohort of students. Learning
Communities
aim to provide students with greater curricular coherence, and to provide both
students and faculty an opportunity for increased intellectual interaction and
shared inquiry."

Electronic Learning Communities
"The ELC Group in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology is led by Assistant Professor Amy Bruckman. Our research focuses on the design of communities on the Internet. Our work is inspired by an educational theory called constructionism Ð the idea that people learn best when they are making something that is personally meaningful to them."
