Once just Mosaic, now there are many "flavors"
a navigational tool for the Internet that offers access to documents that contain not only text, but also graphics, sound, MPEG and QuickTime digital movies, as well as hypertext links to other such multimedia documents.
an umbrella that includes Web pages plus access to Gopher servers, anonymous ftp sites, Telnet hosts, and WAIS databases.
a free program with versions for Macintosh, IBM/PC, and UNIX-based computers.
an easy to use step into the Internet.

HyperText documents: The Hall of Dinosaurs; MCLI's Labyrinth-Forum publication; complete works of William Shakespeare; Interactive Weather Map.
Gopher servers: Library of Congress; Classics and Mediterranean Archaeology; C-Span educational information; Merit software archive.
FTP sites: National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), developers of Mosaic; Multimedia Archive for Macromedia AuthorWare and Director.
Telnet hosts: ISAAC, on-line information and resources for users of IBM/PC computers; CARL library system.
