1. A Sense of Mission - Exploring the Fine Arts Legacy of Colonial Latin America Joyce Jackson Estrella Mountain Community College (2004-2005) EMCC proposes to hold a series of fine arts events featuring visual
art, music, theatre & history of Colonial Latin America. These
learning opportunities will provide an artistic gateway to an
understanding of the historical context & contribution of
indigenous populations to the art of the period. The WebQuest
serves as a learning tool on Colonial Latin America.
2. A Twentieth-Century Retrospective: The American Review Christopher Scinto Paradise Valley Community College (2004-2005) This project, "A Twentieth-Century Retrospective: The American Review," is a series of lecture-recitals that highlight the development of American chamber music in the twentieth-century. This series will include discussions of representative American composers, their individual styles, elements of the arts, culture and society that may have shaped their style, and musical performances.
3. Adjunct Faculty Institute Melinda Rudibaugh Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2004-2005) Workshop sessions on technology, active learning, learning styles, writing across the curriculum, assessment, classroom management, etc. need to be offered to get our large pool of mathematics adjunct up to speed before the school year begins. We also need to support them with development as the school year evolves and celebrate their growth with recognition at the end of the year.
4. Bilingual Basic Patient Assessment Video Mauro Valente da Fonte GateWay Community College (2004-2005) This video project will assist the students and faculty in the allied health disciplines within the health science division and nursing program, to learn basic Spanish vocabulary and sentence construction in order to perform a general patient assessment upon the patient's admission to a hospital or clinic.

Comprehensive Counseling Division Assessment Plan, Implementation, and Evaluation James Rubin Paradise Valley Community College (2004-2005) The grant will support a faculty counselor to complete assessment research; collaborate with Chair of PVCC Assessment Committee and counseling colleagues to evaluate current services and class assessment; prioritize areas to focus assessment intervention; select measurable learning outcomes; design 1 and 3-year assessment plans; implement the plan; gather data; and finally, evaluate the plan.

Creating Career Options: Dance Therapy, Choreography, and Performance Elizabeth Casebolt Scottsdale Community College (2004-2005) Students at five MCCCD campuses will learn innovative choreographic devices while exploring different career options within the field of dance. A Dance Therapist/choreographer will set the foundation by instructing students in dance therapy, while two choreographers add a multi-cultural perspective. These residencies will include Master Classes, lecture demonstrations, and choreographic works.
7. Cultivating Communities of Practice Diana Abel Glendale Community College (2004-2005) Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion about a topic and who deepen their knowledge and expertise by interacting on an ongoing basis. The Technology & Consumer Science Dept. will cultivate a teaching/learning community of practice between residential and adjunct faculty by implementating teaching circles and faculty mentoring.

Dancing into the future: The Presentation of Women Song Sally Jesse Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2004-2005) Cliff Keuter, nationally known choreographer, will set his work "Women Song"on student dancers at CGCC. A videotape of this project, as previously performed, can be made available for grant readers if necessary.

Diabetes Awareness Outreach Program/Student Internship Laura Avila Glendale Community College (2004-2005) A diabetes outreach program/student internship for Glendale Community College will be developed to have two purposes: First, to educate students on diabetes and diabetes prevention methods. Second: to allow students to participate in an actual prevention progam as interns assisting people in a variety of health care settings.

Digital Storytelling Premiere: One World, Many Voices Linda Hicks Scottsdale Community College (2004-2005) This grant will support the archiving of documentary footage & digital stories to be shared across disciplines throughout the MCCCD. A 90 minute multi-media presentation will be the culminating event. The grant monies will be used to hire specialists and students to create a library of materials and premiere.
