"Sister Moses: The story of Harriet Tubman" Sonia Valle Paradise Valley Community College (2007-2008) This Project will involve the dance performance of "Sister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman" by Desert Dance Theatre at Paradise Valley Community College. This Project will be presented as part of Black History Month in February 2008 and it will incorporate PVCC Dance Students in the performance. * This grant project is currently in progress

Access to Artistic Excellence: a residency project Lenna DeMarco Glendale Community College (2007-2008) This project focuses on promoting active learning and enhancing professional growth by giving students the opportunity to work with a distinguished professional in the dance field. Melissa Rolnick will be at GCC in residence where she will create a new choreographic work. In addition, she will provide a series of master classes in modern dance open to the community and GCC dance students. * This grant project is currently in progress

Active Learning in the Mathematics Classroom Frank Wilson Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2007-2008) Many faculty find it difficult to implement group learning activities due to the amount of time required to create such activities. In this project, we will create a book of group learning activities for Brief Calculus and a book of group learning activities for College Algebra. Each activity will be designed to be completed by a group of students in an active learning environment. * This grant project is currently in progress

An Examination of the Music, Music Theories and Musical Pedagogy of American Master Composer James Tenney Christopher Scinto Paradise Valley Community College (2007-2008) Music Faculty from PVCC, PC, and GCC, along with guest composer/lecturer Dr. Christopher Shultis will present a series of lecture rectials that pay tribute the music and scholarly writings/theories of one of America's leading composers of experimental classical music. * This grant project is currently in progress
5. Anatomy and Physiology Supplemental Tutoring Modules Polly Foureman Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2007-2008) BIO201 is a high content, difficult course with a large population of under-prepared students. Many of these students seek tutoring in our Learning Center and report positive outcomes from the experience. We propose to build a series of content modules covering areas of predictable diffiulty for students to be used as supplemental tutoring materials. * This grant project is currently in progress

Art and Community - Dance That Unifies Lenna DeMarco Glendale Community College (2007-2008) A collaborative project between the student dance companies of GCC and ASU and the community under the guidance of NYC choreographer David Dorfman. Creation of performance piece with college and high school dance students, and family and community members using dance as a means of crossing racial,gender, age, and life experience boundaries. BUS/CIS Perpetual Learning Laboratory Preston Cameron Mesa Community College (2007-2008) Create a perpetual learning laboratory and electronic commerce website providing students with ‘live’ business experience owning and operating an online store. Profits from the store would endow the Edward H. Snider Memorial Scholarship Fund perpetuating the learning opportunities for future MCC students. The perpetual learning laboratory could be a pilot for other MCCCD colleges. * This grant project is currently in progress
8. Chemistry Magic: Demonstration Manual and Materials Preparation Jeanne Arquette Phoenix College (2007-2008) “Chemistry Magic” proposes to develop a collection of fascinating, safe, ready-to-use chemistry demonstration kits that will enable all Chemistry faculty, residential and adjunct, to share with their students exciting real-world applications and to relate chemistry theory to observable phenomena. This involves gathering demonstrations, preparing all materials needed, and writing a manual. * This grant project is currently in progress

Collaboration and the Creative Process Sally Jesse Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2007-2008) Students will spend one week immersed in the creative collaboration of two well-known artists as a new dance and musical composition are jointly developed. Kris Hill (musician) will compose the music and Keith Johnson (choreographer) will create the dance which will be performed by CGCC students, spring 2008. * This grant project is currently in progress

Content Delivery Placement Assessment for Mathematics Courses Beth Dawkins Glendale Community College (2007-2008) The purpose of this project is to develop an online diagnostic tool for assessing what style of instruction would be the best for an individual student. We specifically are looking at online versus hybrid versus classroom instruction delivery styles. * This grant project is currently in progress
