was established by Rutgers and Princeton Universities in
1991 to provide a national focus for those involved in
creating, disseminating and using electronic texts in the
humanities. CETH's mission is to establish a framework for the use of
high quality electronic text resources in the humanities. A
program of research on the 'uses and users' of these texts
is intended to identify areas for further improvement.

with a major grant from IBM and a multi-year commitment of
support from the University, as part of an effort to bring
Thomas Jefferson's educational ideals into the twenty-first
