MFI Intern Selection Process

  1. All application packets will be submitted to the MCLI, attention Eric Leshinskie.
  2. An MFI Screening Committee comprised of representatives from the MCLI, Faculty Executive Council (FEC), Faculty of Color Recruitment Commission (FCRRC), and the District Office Faculty Recruitment Office will review all submitted applications.
  3. Participating colleges will form a college selection committee that must include the college Faculty President (or his/her designee) and one residential faculty member from the identified discipline.
  4. A pool of final candidates will be created from all of the application materials.  Each college selection team will have access to the final pool of applicants screened by the MFI Screening Committee.
  5. Each college selection team will be responsible for screening and evaluating final applicants, selecting their candidates, and contacting them for interviews.
  6. Each college selection team will send the name of the selected Intern and Mentor(s) to the MFI Coordinator at the MCLI.
  7. Selected Interns will receive the official offer from Employee Services no later than May 1, 2007.

If two or more colleges identify the same candidate, the candidate will make the decision as to where he/she will complete the internship.  Those colleges whose top candidates do not agree to participate in the Internship must then identify a second candidate they have already interviewed to participate in the program.

MFI Mentor Selection and Responsibilities
A lead MFI Faculty Mentor must be a residential faculty in the same teaching field as the Intern, preferably someone with appointive status.  Mentors will receive the equivalent to 3 load hours each semester as compensation for serving as mentors.  Request that mentors be identified as faculty who can actively engage and invest in the Intern’s professional growth and development.

Mentors will:
