1. 2004 Presidential Election Voting Decision

Students research the qualifications of candidates running for the 2004 Presidential Election, select 2-4 election issues to research in greater depth, analyze those issues and conclude with a statement indicating whether or not they plan to vote for the candidate based on their research. This semester I plan to add a community based learning component that will enhance their understanding of why voting matters (e.g. how they affected by decisions made by office holders). 4. Ballot Propostions Assignment

Every fall semester in election years the students in my CRE 101 and other reading classes students must work in pairs to discuss the pro and con sides of the Arizona ballot proposition they have chosen. I provide pamphlets to all students. After their presentaions we hold a mock election on the propositions in each class. I also assist studenst in registering to vote on-line.
