6. Active Engagement of PHY 112 Students through Integration of the Lecture and Laboratory
The best practices of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning were applied to collaboratively develop laboratory-based activities for the second semester of an integrated lecture/laboratory algebra and trigonometry-based introductory Physics course. The activities were developed based on Physics Education Research to actively engage students and explicitly focus on developing the scientific inquiry skills outlined in MCC’s Student Learning Outcomes process. 7. Clinical Decision Making and Documentation Tool
The Health Assessment Nursing Documentation System (HANDS) was created as a means by which our students can document clinical findings from hospitalized or simulation patients. It was created using FileMaker Pro, piloted and evaluated. (Nursing)

Creation of an information literacy tutorial for nursing students on using the CINAHL database utilizing screencasting technology. (Nursing, EMT, Medical Technology, Biology)
9. Exploring Movement Analysis and its application to dance technique.
Bill Evans came to Chandler-Gilbert Community College for three days of intensive work in Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundaments, and its application to dance technique. Additionally, Don Halquist accompanied Bill Evans and worked daily with students on best teaching practices for dance. This "extra" was provided within the cost of the grant. (Dance)
10. New Ties/Old ties - Continuing the legacy
Choreographer Pablo Cornejo set a piece on GCC and Peoria HS dance students. Opportunity for HS students to experience college level work and be introduced to college life and experience. Director of PHS dance is GCC dance alumnus and performed in work set by Cornejo during her attendance at GCC. Mentoring of HS students by GCC college students. (Dance, theatre, music)

14. Tropical Systems Biology: Mammal Research & Content Knowledge Update in Tropical Systems.
I spent just over 2 weeks in the LaSelva field station in Costa Rica to update my content knowledge and learn new case studies in tropical systems biology. In addition, to conduct a short field study on how human disturbance affects mammal biodiversity. (biology, science, environmental biology, natural history)
15. Learning in Virtual Worlds: Second Life(s) for Learning
I researched, read, and explored Second Life, in May and June, Mesa, AZ. I also dialogued with colleagues about the uses of virtual worlds in the teaching of writing while attending the 2008 Computers and Writing conference, May 22-25 in Athens, GA. (English, Media, Film)
