This grant brought Alberto Del Saz, a former member of the Alwin Nikolais Dance Theater, to Chandler-Gilbert Community College to teach Nikolais technique, discuss the Nikolais creative process, share personal experiences and insights to the work of Alwin Nikolais, and create a new work for Chandler-Gilbert Community College students.
2. Exploring Movement Analysis and its application to dance technique. (Chandler-Gilbert Community College)

Bill Evans came to Chandler-Gilbert Community College for three days of intensive work in Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundaments, and its application to dance technique. Additionally, Don Halquist accompanied Bill Evans and worked daily with students on best teaching practices for dance. This "extra" was provided within the cost of the grant.

I attended the “On Course I Instructional Workshop,” held at Paradise Valley Community College on May 14, 15, 16, 2008, from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm in preparation for the launching of the iStart Smart program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

I attended “Strategies for Empowering Students” in the “On Course I Instructional Workshop,” held at PVCC May 14, 15, 16, 2008. The workshop was a highly experiential workshop which provided me with dozens of powerful strategies for helping students to become active and responsible learners.
6. Preparation for Conference Participation (Chandler-Gilbert Community College)

The purpose of my project was to become more knowledgeable on the topic of the biology of sexual orientation, intersex and transgender individuals so that I may participate and serve as a resource at an international conference on this subject.

I attended the “On Course I Instructional Workshop,” at PVCC in May. During the summer, we held two meetings to discuss strategies from the workshop and I created lesson plans and an Intstructor's Guide for faculty teaching the AAA 115 course.

10. Writing Women, Women Writing, and Righting Women: Re-envisioning the Notion of the Renaissance Woman (Chandler-Gilbert Community College)

My summer project explored the relationship between women and writing: notions of womanhood, female literary responses to male representations, etc. It focused primarily on women in Renaissance England and 20th century America. A secondary aspect focused on women in the workplace in the U.S/Mexico.
