I continue to use a project-based format in my classes. The project based format means that students are using a variety of tools and techniques to accomplish their tasks. Here's what I suggest about safety (see the supplement below).
Since I see photos and videos of the actual construction processes, I know that students don't always follow these suggestions. However, I point out any out of class infractions I see!
Since beginning to use project-based learning, I’ve seen a bi-modal student response. Students either seem to detest it (they want standard lectures and tests) or they love it (hate lectures and tests). Regardless of students’ opinions, I’m sold!
I think students construct far more useful skills and knowledge that will stay with them by having these large contexts to organize their learning.
