summary |
This is a list of symbols that can be created in MS Word using only keystrokes – no mouse is necessary. |
details |
If you ever need to add a symbol to your typing and don’t want to use the mouse to click and select, you can use just the keyboard. Pressing the ALT key, entering the numbers on the keypad (not the number keys above the letters) and releasing the ALT key will produce the symbols.
The ability to use only the keyboard to create symbols is useful in medical transcription, as keeping the fingers on the keyboard increases speed in typing. Knowing how to make different symbols can also benefit students/instructors who need to use a different alphabet or mathematical symbols.
