summary

Learning is very personal. "Learning, Your Way" is grounded in research in metacognition and constructivism. It uses experiences from workshops, seminars, and best practices over the last 20 years to help learners assess learning needs and consciously choose strategies to improve their success in learning.

details

Many of the strategies presented may seem like common sense, others may be unworkable or unrealistic for your situation. Keep the ones which work, discard those that don't work for you. Continually assess how effectively the strategies you have chosen work for you. By building a larger repertoire of strategies to choose from, you can improve your success in difficult subjects or situations.

The strategies, tips, and techniques presented have been collected and used successfully with students and tutors over the last twenty years. The strategies are grounded in research in learning theories and practical application. After identifying some strategies, you may also want to learn about characteristics of personal learning preferences (based on experiential learning models and brain research) and assess where you would fit.

Good luck to you as you take more control of strategies you choose and how to use them. The navigation links at the left of the program screen are listed in a logical sequence, but feel free to view them any way you like. If you would like to comment or submit a question &/or answer to be considered for addition to the FAQs, fill out the comment/evaluation form.

I am a grateful former student of Nelson DuBois circa 1978. Back then he talked a lot about Gagne and was a superb teacher and i imagine he has learned a few things since then. Please tell him a former student sends his best regards and has changed the "system" a little bit as he predicted.
