A compilation of 50+ deas for writing tasks that can be easily incorporated into lessons to help students process information. |
details |
Writing across the curriculum activities such as those listed in this document help students grab concepts, remember them, and be actively engaged. Although the majority of these activities are intended as low stakes (informal, requiring minimal effort and instructional time) activities, many of the ideas could be extended and developed into high stakes (more formal, complex writing assignments).
Writing to learn activities can be used to actively engage students in course material during lectures or presentations, can help them understand concepts, can be used for a variety of management situations (check out \"Cool Down\"), and even allow them to have some fun!
