summary

The Navigate Maricopa Supervisory Program provides Maricopa supervisors with 40 plus hours of quality instruction to enhance skills in risk management, safety, performance management, resource stewardship, legal issues, and human relations. Initiated in Spring 02, the program has been utilized by over 200 Maricopa supervisors or aspiring supervisors who have taken one or more courses.

details

(This initiative is District Office's 2005 Innovation of the Year.)

The Navigate Maricopa Supervisory Development Program increases the quality of supervision received by Maricopa employees. Sessions in performance management, stewardship of public resources and creating a respectful work environment enhance the skills and abilities of supervisors who attend.

The program contributes to overall supervisor efficiency. It features an on-line course designed to introduce supervisors who are new to Maricopa to the culture, organization, and meaning of supervision at Maricopa. In addition, in all other courses, supervisors learn up-to-date Maricopa systems, processes, and procedures. Each class features comprehensive materials, resources, and job aids designed to serve as reference materials once a supervisor attends the courses. An added bonus includes a comprehensive collection of supervisor tools available on the EOLT website. Supervisors always have access to the most up-to-date information.

The curriculum, while tailored to the Maricopa supervisor, could be customized for other institutions. Already, the Dallas County Community College District has utilized Navigate Maricopa as a benchmark for their own supervisory development program.
