In 1994, we created the first version of this tutorial as part of a workshop for faculty at South Mountain Community College, initially the first 8 lessons of the current tutorial. Since providing this resource free to all web users, we have been contacted by thousands of people from every internet domain that have used the tutorial to learn HTML.
The tutorial starts from the very basics, and each lesson builds on the previous one, adding or modifying a web site along the way. By the end of the 29 lessons, you will have a multi-page site with JavaScript menus, graphics, sound, video, Shockwave, Java, and many of the standard HTML constructs used to make web pages.
Volunteers have translated WritingHTML into Spanish, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Icelandic.
