summary |
A package of three grading rubrics:
• Group self-evaluation of individual members
• Project Evaluation – paper and presentation
The project is somewhat specialized to a physics class, but could easily be adapted for other classes. |

I’m proud of the group self-evaluation because I think it covers many kinds of contributions that group members can make. Sometimes one person being incredibly persistent with questions is the best thing for a group. Also, getting feedback on how each member perceives the contributions and understanding of others (and themselves) can catch problems before they become serious.
The Project evaluation rubrics are good not only because they give the students an idea what I’m looking for (before they turn in their paper & give their presentation), but also because it cuts my grading time. When I grade, instead of writing comments out, I can use a highlighter to mark them on the rubric. The rubrics are somewhat specific to the project outline I give my physics students – so I’m including a copy of that as well.
I created the rubrics in PageMaker and uploaded them in PDF format. I'd be happy to share the original PageMaker with anyone who has the ability to edit it to better suit their needs. (The project outline is in Word.)
