For the first time at the Online Learning Group, we will be exploring the many online tools and technologies that are available to math and science students and teachers. Faculty from several campuses will share their experiences adapting these tools and technologies to meet their needs and the needs of their students.

Extend Your Office Hours Online
Stephen Nicoloff, Math Instructor (Paradise Valley)
The "Virtual Classroom" within Blackboard, is a very beneficial tool for online faculty to learn about and see. Stephen will demonstrate how it can be used, especially with the equation editor, and how it enables faculty to interact directly with students, etc.. He will talk about some of the reasons he uses it, some struggles he's had, as well as demonstration of the tool itself.
Using MyMathLab to Enhance Math Classes

Luvia Rivera, Math instructor from Estrella Mountain will share how she uses MyMathLab in her classes. Available with Pearson Addison-Wesley and Pearson Prentice Hall textbooks in Mathematics and Statistics, MyMathLab offers dependable and easy-to-use online homework, guided solutions, multimedia, tests, and eBooks.

Using Late Nite Labs Simulation Software
Lorelei Wood, Physical Science Chair (Rio Salado)
At Rio Salado, Late Nite Labs is used in one of their 8 online chemistry
lab courses offered -- CHM151LL. Lorelei believes that it is the 'best' of what is currently available for online delivery, but certainly not the optimal in terms of best practice. She will share her experiences and her evaluation of the usefulness of the software.
Creating & Integrating Drag & Drop Exercises

This session will show how SoftChalk LessonBuilder, Photoshop, and
our CMS were all used to create interactive exercises for John's
students to establish mastery over labeling Human Anatomy. These
same tools can be used for labeling ANYTHING!
