Day of Learning: One day during the week of accountability focused on professional growth (modeled on PVC's Week of Learning) this year in August. We focused on professional development, software training, wellness and other areas. This provided an opportunity for all employees to have one day set aside to engage in professional growth and learning. Based on attendance and feedback, we are planning for another Day of Learning in January.
Unseated: Providing alternative delivery of courses to our diverse student population is a high priority of the college. This project focuses on reducing the amount of time that students spend in classrooms and provides out-of-classroom learning while optimizing the classroom time. During Spring and Summer of 2002, nine faculty redesigned ten courses. Collaboration across disciplines at periodic meetings of this group led to new ideas and perspectives on instructional issues. Three of the courses were offered in the Summer session and all these courses are being offered this Fall term. Instructors report increased enthusiasm for both themselves and students. Currently, more faculty work collaboratively on another set of courses. Instructional options developed through this program provide a variety of instructional options for students including learning communities, on-line hybrid courses, collaborative learning, and mastery learning. http://www.pc.maricopa.edu/departments/ltd/unSeatedFrame/
PC Cubed: PC3 is a local leadership development program. The group discussing Campus Climate identified the need for this program. The Staff Development Committee implementing it last year with 25 participants representing a cross-section of employees. Sessions included a variety of leadership topics presented by an array of external and internal (MCCD) experts. Last year's participants expressed a strong desire to continue along with this year's group.

It is wonderful - campuses are willing to share resources, job aids, processes.
