Due to Amy MacPherson's position in Title V, we are particularly interested the integration of technology into education (it is one of Title V's nine goals). In order to foster this integration, the TLC offers formal training sessions, one-on-one tutorials, and project development assistance. Additionally, we provide technology training for all of the staff at SMCC. Moreover, the TLC has become the hub for instrucional/curriculum development projects (learning community development, etc).

| 8. List and describe your center's most successful programs/initiatives in the last year. How did they lead to improved teaching or learning? Provide URLs if relevant.
|
- 29 out of 49 residential and 49 out of 70 adjunct faculty have Blackboard accounts - the use ranges from simply having a syllabus posted to fully developed hybrid courses. This widespread use of Bb provides students with 24 hour access to course content across most subjects.
- We have developed and offer over 23 different technology training workshops. During summer 2002 we provide over 80 workshops and had over 600 contact hours with residential and adjunct faculty. Faculty members' willingness to attend training and improve their instructional skills should have the end result of greater learning opportunities for our students.
- The instructional designer worked with faculty to develop and new developmental skills learning community. This program helps provide greater support to developmental students and better prepares them to enter 100-level courses.

| 9. What are the most important issues / initiatives your center is facing this year? What are your significant challenges?
|
Out greatest challenge is to keep up with the dynamic field of technology with a skeleton crew staff. However, we want to do more than keep up, we want to excel and offer new workshops and touch more staff and faculty than we did this year.
