Welcome
Manny thanked everyone for taking time from their summer schedule to attend the meeting. The intent of Ocotillo is to be supportive of each college/faculty and what is important to THEIR instructional program. As we begin to do our planning common issues will surface and bring us closer together.

AAHE
AAHE is interested in setting up a subscription of services with Maricopa i.e., materials, consultancy, new versions of their workbook, participation in creating next yearÕs Ocotillo Retreat using their model, and discounts to attend their conferences. 43 Maricopa faculty/administrators will attend AAHEÕs 1997 Summer Institute.

started out at TLTR now call themselves Ocotillo Committee
formed later part of the academic year
will meet bi-weekly this fall
faculty, support staff, coor. Academic Advising, coor. Instructional Technology
formed following AAHE Guidelines, especially like rotating meetings

called Development Team, started out as Teaching and Learning Roundtable and later added Technology
meeting every Friday, 7AM
7 faculty, students, librarians, technology help desk, student services, academic programs, co-chaired by Pat Case and Carol Scarafiotti
emphasis has been on development of distance learning courses
trouble shooting, problem solving
meeting minutes taken and kept in notebook thus tracking problems/solutions
decisions taken from development team to implementation team
- called Technology Committee; started last fall under direction of President Peppicello
- faculty, support staff, administration, co-chaired by Billie Hughes and Norm Godin
- vision statement
- lab action group, instruction subgroup
- charge from Marie was to develop a plan for the campus re: technology across ALL employee groups
- their web pages include meeting minutes, planning and reports of action groups
- established Technology Coordinating Committee end of last Fall
- 9 members -- 3 year commitment
- faculty, support staff, technology people, dean
- meet weekly for 2-3 hours
- currently looking at strategic issues/goals
- communicating over web to anyone interested
- sub groups include project team which will offer web training this fall and web development team who set the standards for what goes on the web
- called TLTR
- bring together different groups and origins
- holding off doing things until a committee is set up -- members need to buy-in
- retreat first Friday before school starts
- plan to meet bi-weekly
- Instructional Computing Committee -- been in existence for 9 years; fits profile of TLTR Guidelines
