Hybrid Courses
For many years the discussion of online technology for learning has been seen as an either/or- we looked at it as "traditional" or "F2F" (Face to Face) versus complete online distance learning. In fact, what we know and see being used at Maricopa is that the bulk of instructional technology integration is somewhere in the grey middle ground, a mixing of online technology use and F2F, and what in the latest edu-jargon is called "hybrid courses". But what exactly are these things?
And what developed at the Ocotillo Technology Visioning Forum on "Designing the Hybrid Campus" (January, 2001) is that we currently have a wide range of hybrids already being created by individual instructors. This web site is a collection of information resources related to hybrid courses, as well as a gallery of the maricopa hybrids we have been able to collect. In addition, we would hope discussions and more Ocotillo activity can generate some models or a range of definitions that would be useful in planning, support, and implementation of hybrids.
