Digital Stories in Intercultural Communication

Linda Hicks and Rachel Woodburn (Scottsdale)

Digital Stories As Documentaries / Journalism

Julie Knapp (Glendale)
Julie has 16 years of experience working in journalism from ASU West. She uses digital storytelling in her photo essay class. Students in her photo essay class are encouraged to take 200 photos for articles.

Julie tries to figure out which way is the best way to use products to help build resources. Her students create digital stories with a documentary approach in mind. In addition, they create digital online stories and video broadcast stories. An example of one of the documentaries is the AIDS awareness convention.

LynnAnn Wojciechowicz (South Mountain)
LynnAnn Wojciechowicz is the Director of the South Mountain Storytelling Institute, a program which is designed to provide students with knowledge of humane, literary, dramatic and historical perspectives which are the foundation for story. For more, see the Storytelling Institute ePortfolio

LynnAnn was first introduced to digital storytelling after her experience with the faculty exchange traditional storytelling program in Australia. She uses her "I Love Stories!" digital story in all of her storytelling classes during the first week of class. She created this in the This was created in the August 2004 Digital Storytelling Learnshop.
