Common Elements of College Technology Plans
These elements were suggested by the Ocotillo faculty Chairs in the Fall of 1999 as items that should be found in any college technology plan. Each element links to the portions of college plans that address it.
| Our sincere thank you to all ten Ocotillo Teaching and Learning Technology
Round Tables (TLTR), and to the leadership provided by their Ocotillo Chairs
and Deans of Instruction for a very successful year. For more than a decade,
Ocotillo has provided a District-wide forum for faculty, staff, and
administration to address technology issues. There is good reason why Ocotillo
has endured---many successes that have benefited the communities served by our
colleges.
I believe that Ocotillo has done it again. This time the "New Ocotillo", with broad and diverse TLTR membership at each college, has yielded ten unique products---Instructional Technology Plans. Each Plan is designed to meet the needs of its college. However, we need to realize that each plan is actually Version 1, and will need to continue evolving so that it will reflect the changing needs of the college for which it is designed. Although each college designed and developed its own Technology Plan, the "New Ocotillo" structure provided an environment for all Ocotillo Chairs and Deans of Instruction to meet regularly to discuss issues and exchange ideas during the planning and construction phases of their plans. We believe that each college Plan was improved because of interaction among the Ocotillo Chairs and Deans of Instruction from all Maricopa Colleges. Common instructional technology issues, such as those that will be discussed at Ocotillo Retreat 99, will continue to arise as Ocotillo continues. It is anticipated that these common issues will be included in each new version of the college Technology Plans. Close ties between Ocotillo and District initiatives also will be of great value to technology planning at the colleges. Ocotillo looks forward to working closely with District personnel. Again, thank you very much for working so hard to produce such worthy Technology Plans for your colleges. With each Plan online, you will be helping your sister colleges address their instructional technology needs. Manny Griego Ocotillo Faculty Chair |
