The Center was founded as part of a Title IV-B grant
from the Federal government and has offered seminars, workshops and student internships.
Students from CIS 233 Web Publishing and CIS 235 E-commerce have worked
with local businesses to develop Web pages to enhance their on-line
presence. The ultimate goal is to enhance local businesses by utilizing the
Internet, e.g. make the transition from bricks and mortar to bricks and
clicks.

- Maricopa Online: Armchair Records and Registration for Students [E132]

Maricopa Online is integrated to Maricopa's Student Information system
and provides self-service access to students at a time and place that
was convenient to them. The web enables students to apply, register,
make credit card payments, check course availability, view financial
aid, grades and unofficial transcripts, update addresses and request and
pay for official transcripts via secure, real-time internet connection.

Shelle Witten will demonstrate the Spring 2001 Maricopa Online Librarian pilot project. Funded through an MCLI Learning Grant, it provided reference and instruction services to Maricopa students four nights a week, including some after-hours availability. Utilizing both a chat client as well as co-browsing software, students received assistance. Larry Miller will demonstrate how faculty are able to use Blackboard to provide links to periodical articles using the Expanded Academic ASAP database. Other online library resources will also be demonstrated.

Hands on exploration of a learning community centered use of wireless
Apple iBooks. Student exploration of content is shared through a e-mail
centered learning community. This community cross-cuts sections and classes
themselves to be a thematic reflection exchange. Student creativity is
stimulated through the unwired classroom.

- Hybrid Courses: Using Technology with Traditional Real-Time Instruction [E142]

users of instructional technology. You will participate as a student in an
economics lesson that can be adapted for traditional, hybrid, or on line

- The Sous Chef - Repetitive and Interactive Learning in Culinary Arts {E136]

- Planning and Budgeting is for EVERYONE: A new and innovative approach to

Automated Planning and Budgeting System (APB) is a new campuswide online tool developed at
PVCC. It allows any employee (PSA, M&O, Safety, Faculty-- even adjunct, temps, student employees,
etc) to take part in providing planning and budgeting information to their Budget Manager and also
allow everyone to see what plans and budgets were submitted, their status, and what was funded.
The new System requires planning to be submitted before any budgets can be submitted. It won
PVCC's Innovator of the Year award.

- MicroSoft Certification Training Showcase/General Classroom [E146]

This room has a special firewall so students are not able to get out on our networks with the system
installations and server software used for their classes. However, this room is set up with a default hard drive
standard lab setup so it can be used as a shared reservable space for any class to use. The removable hard
drive created for the MST classes for this room has 7 operating systems, including server software, and
functions well for all the needs of the Microsoft/Netware students. Drop by to see all the different operating
systems up, as well as showing the use of Ghost, Partition Magic, and other tutorials. Also, materials
available about certifications, etc. Testing software will also be available. Note: this session is available on drop-in basis from 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM
